General Objective:
The General objective of the Ropes Course of
the Center for Leadership and Cultural
Transformation is: "to help increase the
enthusiasm of the participant toward a greater
understanding of his/herself, of others and
nature, increasing his/her capacity for
reflection, interpersonal communications,
cooperation and team-work."
The experience provides an opportunity for
increased self knowledge, to learn to create new
ways of doing things, to develop capacity to work
in teams, have fun, to communicate clearly, to
establish trust relationships, to cooperate and
expect others.
Specific Objectives:
Personal transformation:
Promote self awareness and help individuals
recognize their personal limits, and help them
stretch those limits and transform their ways of
seeing and doing. This is achieved through the
clarification of their goals, personal needs and
roles, and taking personal responsibility with
oneself and with others.
Interpersonal abilities:
Expand participant's ability to relate to others.
Develop confidence in others. Promote
participation, a proactive attitude, open and
clear communication, learn to listen with
empathy, give and receive effective feedback,
develop win-win attitudes and behaviors,
encourage self-responsibility and accountability
systems that generate empowerment, personal
commitment and cooperative relationships.
Democratic values: Learn the
key elements that make-up effective democratic
processes, the characteristics of an effective
leader, active participation of all the
participantes, decision making processes to
integrate everyone's will, and appreciative
inquiry processes to create most wanted
realities.
Eco-mindedness: Expand
participant's understanding of just how fragile
our environment is, and help them increase their
personal responsibility for the care and
preservation of nature.
Learning: Create and sustain
an environment and an attitude in which the
emphasis is on experimentation and proactive
participation in an experience based learning
process which activates the cognitive, emotional
and physical dimensions. When participants meet
the challenges of the ropes course they become
excited feel pushed into an "altered state" that
allows them to learn at a visceral or gut
level.
